Beardsley and Tulloch - 2026 Reservoir Launching Updates 

Beardsley Reservoir prohibits trailer launching; eligible watercraft can launch after self-inspection and certification.

Tulloch Public Access Locations:

Drifters Grill and Marina

Drifters Grill and Marina is under new ownership and has been approved by Tri-Dam as a designated launch site. Please contact Drifters Grill and Marina directly for current access, hours of operation, and launch availability.

Tuolumne County Campground Boat Launch

The Tuolumne County-operated campground boat launch is the primary public access point but is currently closed. For updates regarding the campground reopening, please contact Tuolumne County directly.

General Boating Requirements

All motorized vessels must:

  • Arrive Clean, Drained, and Dry
  • Undergo inspection if transported on a trailer
  • Launch only from approved facilities
  • Be operated by individuals possessing a valid California Boater Card, when required by law

Banding Requirements

To launch at Tulloch Reservoir, your vessel must meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • Have a valid Tulloch-issued 30-day quarantine band; OR
  • Have a valid Tulloch re-entry band; OR
  • Receive an approved decontamination (see below)

Important

  • 30-Day and Re-Entry Bands  from other lakes or waterbodies are NOT accepted.
  • Bands must be verifiable in the national database.
  • Boaters should request a text or digital receipt to confirm band registration.
  • Bands must remain intact to remain valid.

Approved Decontamination

(New Melones → Tulloch)

Boaters may use New Melones Reservoir for decontamination only.

After decontamination:

  • A band will be issued for same-day entry into Tulloch Reservoir.
  • Request a receipt confirming your vessel has been entered into the inspection database.
  • You may proceed directly to Tulloch Reservoir after decontamination or wait until you are ready to launch; however, the vessel may not be launched into another waterbody before entering Tulloch Reservoir or the decontamination will no longer be valid.
  • Please call ahead to confirm decontamination availability at New Melones Reservoir.

Not Allowed

  • 30-day quarantine bands from New Melones do NOT qualify for entry.
  • Re-entry bands from New Melones do NOT qualify for entry.
  • This agreement applies to decontamination services only and is not reciprocal.

Vessel Stickers and Day Passes

Tri-Dam vessel stickers are issued ONLY to eligible Tulloch lakefront property owners.

They are NOT available to the general public. Members of the general public will be issued a day-use launch pass when launching from an approved facility.

All vessels must either:

  • Display a valid Tri-Dam vessel sticker; OR
  • Possess a valid day-use launch pass issued by an approved launch facility.

This requirement is separate from the California DMV Mussel Fee Sticker.

Non-Motorized Watercraft

The following non-motorized watercraft are not required to be banded, but must complete a Tulloch Non-Motorized Watercraft Self-Certification Permit prior to launching:

  • Kayaks
  • Canoes
  • Paddleboards
  • Rowboats
  • Float tubes
  • Inflatable watercraft
  • Rafts
  • Wind surfers / sailboards
  • Boogie boards
  • Non-motorized paddle boats
  • Non-motorized sailboats eight (8) feet or less in length

Prior to launching, users must:

  • Review the list of known invasive mussel and aquatic invasive species (AIS) infested waters;
  • Inspect their watercraft and ensure it is Clean, Drained, and Dry;
  • Complete the self-certification permit; and
  • Return the completed certification portion to a designated self-inspection kiosk or participating HOA, as applicable.
